Anniversary Ceremony on the 60th Anniversary of the Pomurje Lawyers’ Association: A Mission That Transcends the Profession

The Pomurje Lawyers’ Association marked its jubilee celebrating more than sixty years of activity with a ceremonial academy held in the historic Duša Škof Castle Hall in Murska Sobota. The event brought together distinguished legal professionals from the region and across Slovenia, highlighting the Association’s long-standing role in fostering professional development, ethical standards, and collaboration within the legal community. Mayor Damjan Anželj awarded the Association a recognition for its decades-long contribution to the region. In his keynote address, President Jernej Kuzmič stressed that the legal profession is more than an occupation—it is a vocation requiring integrity, moral responsibility, and a deep commitment to serving society. The ceremony featured several prominent speakers from the judiciary, academia, and state institutions. The historical overview revisited the Association’s development since 1963, the creation of two related legal societies, and their reunification into a single organisation in 2022. The central professional segment of the event was a panel discussion titled The Lawyer in Today’s World, which explored topics such as digitisation, ethical dilemmas, public expectations, and the increasing complexity of legal practice. The celebration served as both a tribute to a rich legal tradition and a reaffirmation of the Association’s mission to uphold integrity, strengthen professional unity, and support the community it serves.
