Janez Šinkovec (1928–2016), Professor at the Faculty of Law of University of Ljubljana, Former Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia

The author presents the life and the work of the deceased Professor Janez Šinkovec (1928–2016), PhD, who was one of the most eminent and prolific jurists in Slovenian legal history. Since his graduation Mr. Šinkovec had been an active judge at the district and county courts in Radovljica, Ljubljana and Nova Gorica, and at the Supreme Court of Slovenia and at the end of his career at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia. Many years, he was also president of the Association of Jurists of Slovenia and Association of Jurists of Yugoslavia, until Slovenia gained independence. His bibliography contains 331 units. He published especially in the field of labour law, civil law, commercial law, constitutional law, environmental law and law on constitutional rights and the EU law. He was active in Slovenia as well as abroad.
