The published contribution is a speech delivered by the European Court of Human Rights judge, at a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia, held on 15 December 2016 at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia. The author sees in the Constitution a procedural document, which should directly guide judicial decisions in individual cases, and it also clarifies the importance of the Constitutional Court for the functioning of the legal system. Concurrently, he outlines the key qualities of judicial decision-making, such as independence, openness and fairness. With regard to the Constitution he also emphasizes the pride, satisfaction and respect that can inspire the current time.
